Owing to the natural resources,
great sacrifices, and day-and-night work in the past decades,
there has been achieved a particularly successful economic growth
and development. The economic
basis has been constantly improved by construction of new economic
and infrastructural facilities, increased production, and exports
to foreign markets.
Small artisan workshops have grown into modern
factories, and owing to the resources of large forest heritage
of Kozara and Prosare (Mounts), and fertile arable lands of Lijevce
Polje and Potkozarje, processing facilities have been built for
the furniture, wood processing, agriculture, and foodstuffs industries.
Companies in other branches of economy have been developed in
parallel, particularly the metal and textile industries, machine
construction, civil engineering and building construction, trade
and production of electrical materials and plastics.
Economic development of industrial enterprises
was successfully followed by the development of communal and service
activities. In the last 50 years the whole economic potential,
housing fund, and facilities of infrastructure have been constructed
and still demonstrate the trend of constant expansion.
The economy of the Municipality of Gradiska employs
almost 6,000
workers and non-economic activities some 2,000.
The main subjects of economic activities are
the state-owned companies of which sixteen have the status of
importance for the Republic and thirteen of municipal importance.
The companies of the state-owned sector that
achieve 35% of the gross domestic product of the Municipality
employ 50% of the overall number of employees and carry out the
complete export. The process of transformation of the slate-owned
capital is currently under way.
Compared to the period before the War, the
level of industrial production of 25% has been reached, which
indicates a great potential with regard to the increase of the
production capacity utilization rate and employment.
In the territory of the Municipality there
operate over 600 private companies and 1,400 private shops. The
majority of activities of the private sector are oriented to the
areas of trade and catering, and a few of them are in some kind
of production.
Overall, the Municipality of Gradiska represents
a particularly interesting region for all forms of economic activities
and capital investments.
